Most recently receiving writing credits on Dua Lipa’s debut album, Cara Salimando is a musical force to be reckoned with.

Starting as a solo singer-songwriter, Cara first received attention as a teenager.

Early on she signed with Universal and Motown Records, and in 2010 she released her debut EP “Dust,” featuring songs “Dust,” “The Way We Are,” “Even More,” “Cigarette Smoke,” and “Anything At All.”

While the album only reached a moderate success, Cara’s fans quickly fell in love with the young artist’s realistic portrayals of love and her soft crooner-esque voice.

The singer then went on to release monthly EPS featuring original songs like “Voices,” “Never Come Home,” and covers such as Lana Del Rey’s “Blue Jeans.”

She also released the Boston inspired ballad “Commonwealth” documenting her college relationship through the street names of New England’s best city. (Which may have also inspired a certain writer’s love life as she went to college in Boston.)

In 2013, after a brief hiatus, Cara revealed that she was going to be starting a new project titled Novelette with a new band. Then, just a few months later, the band released their debut album “Everything is Happening Now.”

Some singles from the album include “Lost Boys,” “Half Sleep,” and “Bookmark,” (which was previously put on YouTube by Cara’s solo project, but never was never released for download.)

However, the Novelette project was short lived- having not released new music since 2016.

In fact, Cara herself has not released any music in the past year. Besides being featured on a few songs here and there, our only way to hear her fantastic voice has been to constantly stream her old albums. BUT – that doesn’t mean the talented star has stopped making tunes.

Currently based in Los Angeles, Cara now works as a songwriter for the stars. Some of her recent credits include Kesha’s “Hymn,” Dua Lipa’s “Begging,” and Jarina De Marco’s “STFU.”

But if you’re a fan of Cara’s personal projects, don’t fret. According to a tweet dated Sept. 18, the singer songwriter may have a new project in the works.
