It’s a sad day for The Summer Set fans.

The band has officially announced that they are going on an “indefinite” hiatus in a statement shared on their social media pages.

The statement also let fans know that lead singer Brian Logan Dales officially left the band this past year in order to pursue his solo project, DALES.

And, sixteen minutes prior to the band’s announcement, Brian himself wrote both his bandmates and fans a goodbye message, explaining why he chose to leave when he did, on his Tumblr.

The remaining members include our former musician of the week, Jess Bowen, Josh Montgomery, and brothers Stephen and John Gomez.

While the band has been relatively silent since the release of their last album, “Stories for Monday” and subsequent tour, this is the first time they’ve officially acknowledged their suspected split.

Shortly after the Stories for Monday Tour ended, Brian began posting more on his personal instagram and Twitter letting fans know of small shows and performances he would be doing with his new solo gig. He also released his first single post-Summer Set called “Girls on their Phones.”

But Brian isn’t the only band member doing their own projects. As mentioned in our feature article, Jess also has started a new project, Nekokat, with Jordan Witzigreuter (of The Ready Set) and Cameron Walker-Wright.

While the other three are less public with their new pursuits, Brian’s open letter suggests that John and Stephen are pursuing careers in producing, while Josh is now living in Nashville songwriting full time.
